EFFECTS AND BENEFITS OF CBD

THC vs CBD

Let's start by pointing out that the effects of CBD (cannabidiol) do not alter the state of consciousness of the person consuming it. In short, it does not make you "high". Unlike THC (tetrahydrocannabinol), it acts on various receptors related to sleep, appetite, pain and memory. THC affects the functioning of the brain. It can change the perception of the environment or alter mood.

According to various research studies, CBD can limit the psychotropic effect of THC on the brain. For example, the anxiety that can be generated by consuming too much cannabis containing a high percentage of THC. As stated in a text from the US National Library of Medicine, "CBD reduces THC-induced anxiety when administered simultaneously with THC (...).

Research into the effects of CBD is increasing

Although it is forbidden to promote CBD as a medicine (Naturalpes products, except for flowers, teas and infusions, are considered cosmetics), the evidence of its beneficial effects on the human body is undeniable and growing.

Unfortunately, these studies are still few and far between. But the growing interest in CBD over the last few years could well change the situation. In Switzerland in particular, where the government has long recognised the therapeutic effect of cannabis in general. "A welcome recognition that confirms what doctors and experts have been advocating for a long time. Studies conducted on the plant confirm the effects of CBD, and the medical profession is increasingly interested in the therapeutic virtues of cannabis," wrote the newspaper Le Temps in August 2020.

Chronic pain treated with the effects of CBD

Thus, according to the Journal of Experimental Medicine, research tends to show that CBD oil could be an effective treatment in the fight against chronic pain and in particular neuropathic pain, i.e. pain linked to a lesion of the nervous system.
This concerns pain resulting from diabetes, alcohol abuse, the side effects of a drug, a tumour on a nerve or a traumatic lesion of a nerve, as explained by the Quebec chronic pain association.
By acting on the endocannabinoid system, "cannabinoids (non-psychotropic, editor's note) could represent a new class of therapeutic agents for the treatment of chronic pain," the newspaper states.
At Naturalpes, several testimonials that our clients regularly send us tend to demonstrate this. As do the testimonials of our ambassadors.

EPILEPSY COULD BE TREATED WITH CBD

Due to the difficulties of traditional medicine in treating epilepsy, interest in CBD has soared. For example, in a study reported in the Journal of Experimental Medicine, researcher Emilio Perucca states that "evidence regarding the potential efficacy of cannabinoids against seizures has reached a turning point in the last 12 months, with the completion of three high-quality placebo-controlled trials of a CBD product.
In adjunctive therapy, the effects of CBD have demonstrated an effective outcome in patients with Dravet syndrome and Lennox-Gastaut syndrome. "In these studies, it was more effective than placebo in reducing the frequency of convulsive, tonic-clonic, tonic-clonic and atonic seizures," the journal writes.

WELCOME SUPPORT FOR PEOPLE WITH CANCER

A growing number of preclinical studies indicate that CBD may have anti-cancer properties. "Cannabinoids show action through modulation of signalling pathways crucial in the control of proliferation and survival of affected cells," states the Journal of Experimental Medicine.
In a study published in 2018, four researchers argue that "numerous in vitro and in vivo experiments have shown that cannabinoids inhibit cancer cell proliferation, stimulate autophagy and apoptosis, and also have the potential to inhibit angiogenesis and metastasis."
All this without forgetting the potential beneficial effects of CBD on pain and anxiety that can be produced by cancer.

A POSSIBLE AID IN THE FIGHT AGAINST CARDIOVASCULAR PROBLEMS

The effects of CBD are beneficial for a variety of disorders. A growing body of evidence now suggests that it is also beneficial to the cardiovascular system. "CBD acts directly on isolated arteries, causing acute vasorelaxation", say three researchers in a 2013 trial published in the Journal of experimental medicine.
A common theme in several studies is the anti-inflammatory and antioxidant effects of CBD. In the heart, in vivo cannabidiol treatment protects against damage associated with diabetes. Similarly, it has been shown to reduce infarct size and increase blood flow
"In the blood, CBD influences white blood cell survival and death, white blood cell migration and platelet aggregation. Taken together, these preclinical data seem to confirm the positive role of CBD treatment in the heart and in the peripheral and cerebral vascular system," the researchers conclude.

POSSIBLE POSITIVE EFFECTS ON ANXIETY

Assessing evidence from preclinical, experimental, clinical and epidemiological studies in humans, a study published in the Journal of experimental medicine notes the strong support of CBD in "the treatment of generalized anxiety disorder, panic disorder, social anxiety disorder, obsessive-compulsive disorder and posttraumatic stress disorder when administered acutely".

Reductions in anxiety appear to be achieved through the interaction of CBD with a nervous system receptor (5HT1). This receptor plays a role in a variety of behaviours, including anxiety, appetite, cognition, learning, memory, mood or thermoregulation. We recommend the GOLD oil range.

OTHER BENEFITS OF CBD CONSUMPTION

Research into the effects of CBD on the body continues unabated. Little by little, other uses are being considered and are awaiting more solid scientific confirmation. In bulk, CBD is said to be: anti-inflammatory, anti-psychotic, useful in reducing spasms linked to multiple sclerosis, a sleep aid, etc.
