"Hemp (sativa or indica) contains more than 80 cannabinoids which are, from the point of view of their chemical structure, terpenes-phenols and which exist only in the cannabis plant. The cannabinoids contained in the plant are mainly in the form of carboxylic acids.
The main and most sought-after cannabinoid is tetrahydrocannabinol (THC), which is responsible for the psychotropic effect of cannabis. Cannabidiol (CBD) is another important cannabinoid, present in large quantities in the plant, but which, unlike its cousin, has no psychotropic effect. It interacts with different receptors and would reduce the psychotropic effect.
From a therapeutic point of view, it could have antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, anticonvulsant, antiemetic, anxiolytic, hypnotic or antipsychotic effects."
